A FINE 18-BORE PERCUSSION DOUBLE-BARRELLED CAPE-RIFLE, no visible serial number,
circa 1850, with etched 27in. damascus barrels alternating between ribbon and rose twist damascus, flat broad damascus top-rib with white-metal fore-sight and standing notch dove-tailed rear-sight, the breech-end of rib signed in gilt 'FERD. TRUWIRTH IN WIEN', twin gold bands at breech-end and carved and moulded nipple-bosses with fully scroll engraved surrounds, fully engraved tapering top-tang featuring an oval engraved panel of a recumbent hunting dog and mounted with a small folding tang-sight, walnut half-stock chequered at the wrist (cracked and pinned in antiquity), raised carved cheek-piece, sliding wood patch-box, iron heel-plate with scroll engraved top-spur, engraved and carved trigger-guard bow, double triggers with set for the rifle barrel, carved walnut lower tang cover, button and stirrup swivels with period leather sling and replacement wood ramrod
